Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
— By Marianne Williamson
I discovered this poem while I was at the place of higher learning called Florida Memorial University. I was joining a service group, and in the process of becoming a member, we had to remember the entire poem. The line from this poem that stood out to me the most is the line aforementioned. At one point in my life, I wasn’t living up to expectations set up by others. I allowed the fear of being judged to diminish my light of being great. What I have learned is that it takes tons of time and loads of effort to remove the rules and restrictions that society has placed on us. I have lived my life marching to the beat of someone else’s drum and tried to fit into their “norm,” but I learned as I became comfortable with the person I was becoming, I decided to be Intelligent, Beautiful and Fabulous.
The beauty of Kae is that I can be me comfortably and use the power I have to power the world and myself.
